During the depression, minority groups like African-Americans, Mexican immigrants, and women faced severe employment challenges. African-Americans were often the first to be laid off and last to be hired. Mexican immigrants were seen as threats to jobs, leading to deportations and restrictive state policies. Women, considered expendable in domestic roles, lost jobs and faced criticism when employed in factories for lower wages than men.
