VOICED : Pakistans thin red line: armed teachers in classrooms

In Pakistan, teachers carry guns to protect students from terrorist threats, especially after the 2014 Peshawar school attack by the Taliban, which killed over 150 people. The government allowed teachers to arm themselves due to insufficient police protection. A university attack later saw a teacher, Hamid Hussain, bravely retaliate but lose his life. The Pashtun culture in the region is accustomed to firearms, and despite ongoing threats, students and teachers remain determined to continue education and resist terrorism.
