Saudi Arabia and Turkey have expressed support for sending troops to aid Syrian rebels. In response, Assad's government warned that any unauthorized ground intervention would be seen as aggression. Saudi Arabia is prepared to join ground operations if the US-led coalition decides. Since the Syrian civil war began in 2011, it has resulted in 260,000 deaths and displaced over 13 million people.
