NY Gov. Signs Death Benefits Bill For Coronavirus First Responders

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a measure to support families of frontline workers who died from COVID-19. The measure covers state and local government employees like police officers, nurses, and paramedics who contracted the virus and died in 2020. Cuomo emphasized honoring these workers and supporting their families. Nearly 300 NYC workers have died, and the state plans to open new testing sites in hotspot areas. Phase one of reopening is expected to begin on June 8th.
