In Romania, around half a million people protested against a decree that decriminalized certain corruption offenses. These were the largest protests since the fall of communism in 1989. Protesters demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Zorin Grindianu. Despite announcing the repeal of the decree, the Prime Minister stated he would not resign, citing his commitment to the Romanian people. The decree had proposed a threshold of 44,000 euros for prosecuting financial crimes and reduced prison sentences for corruption.
