VOICED : UE intensifica lucha contra traficantes de personas

In July, the EU launched a large-scale operation against traffickers in the Mediterranean, aiming to gather data for military action. On October 7, EU military ships joined the operation, allowing for the arrest and transfer of traffickers to Italian authorities. The operation, named NAVFORMET, involves four military ships, several aircraft, and over a thousand personnel. Since March, around 30,000 human trafficking suspects have been identified in Europe, with 3,000 operating in the Mediterranean. Amidst a severe refugee crisis, the EU agreed to mobilize funds for refugees, strengthen border controls, and establish centers for asylum seekers.
