VOICED : In the Louisiana Bayou an island slowly disappears under water

Ilj Island, located 80 miles south of New Orleans, is facing severe environmental challenges, including rising sea levels, storms, and erosion, which have drastically reduced its size. Historically home to Native American tribes, the island's population has dwindled from over 700 families to just 30. The local economy, once reliant on shrimping, has suffered, and residents feel neglected by authorities. Despite these challenges, the community remains determined to preserve its traditions, even as the land continues to disappear.
