Pope Francis was visibly moved to tears while speaking about the war in Ukraine during a visit to a statue of the Virgin Mary in Rome. He expressed his desire to thank the Virgin Mary for the peace sought by the Ukrainian people but instead presented their pleas for peace. The Pope has consistently advocated for peace since the Russian invasion and condemned the cruelty faced by Ukraine.
