Russian President Vladimir Putin inaugurated a massive natural gas plant in the Siberian Arctic, built under extreme conditions. The project, costing $27 billion, involved partners like Novatec, Total, CNPC, and Silk Road Fund. It includes a gas liquefaction plant capable of producing 16.5 million tons annually from 2019. Russia aims to exploit Arctic resources and strengthen its presence in the LNG market, increasing exports to Asia and reducing dependence on Europe.
