Toxoplasmosis, caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, affects about a third of the global population. While often asymptomatic in healthy individuals, it can manipulate host behavior, particularly in rodents, to complete its life cycle involving cats. The parasite can also impact human behavior and is linked to various mental health issues. Its success is partly due to human activities that provide new hosts.
