Lorraine Hansberry

Lorraine Hansberry was a pioneering African American playwright, known for her groundbreaking work on Broadway. Born in 1930, she grew up in a racially charged environment, with her family fighting against housing discrimination. Moving to New York, she became an activist and writer, eventually creating the acclaimed play 'A Raisin in the Sun', which depicted African American life in a new light. Her second play, 'The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window', explored themes of identity and diversity. Despite her early death, Hansberry's work continues to inspire new generations.
