Carl Linnaeus

Carl Linnaeus, an 18th-century Swedish scientist, sought to organize the vast variety of plants by their reproductive organs. Despite initial inaccuracies, he refined his classification system using other physical traits like leaf shape and seed type. Linnaeus also simplified plant names into a two-part Latin format, making it easier to communicate about plants universally. His work laid the foundation for a universal language in the natural sciences, which is still in use today.
