Walter Tull, born in 1888, overcame early adversity to become a pioneering figure in both football and the military. As one of the first black professional footballers in Britain, he faced racial abuse but excelled on the field. During World War 1, Tull broke racial barriers by becoming one of the first black combat officers in the British Army, defying military rules. Although he was killed in action in 1918, his legacy of courage and leadership continues to inspire future generations.
