Spain's parliament has extended the national lockdown until June 6th, with a narrow vote of 177 to 161. Since the lockdown began on March 14th, COVID-19 has infected 230,000 people and caused over 27,000 deaths in Spain. Despite a decrease in new cases, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez insists the extension is necessary to combat the virus. However, there is public unrest, with protests demanding the country reopen and the Prime Minister's resignation.
