Mohamed Fahmy, a Canadian journalist formerly with Al Jazeera, has filed a $100 million lawsuit against the Qatari network, alleging negligence and support for blacklisted Islamists. Fahmy, along with an Australian and an Egyptian journalist, was previously convicted in Egypt for allegedly supporting the Muslim Brotherhood during protests. While the Australian was deported, Fahmy and the Egyptian were released on bail. Fahmy is pursuing legal action in Canada, citing Al Jazeera's bias and sponsorship of the Muslim Brotherhood. His choice of Canada is due to his perceived status as a traitor in Egypt after renouncing his citizenship.
