Students in Santiago protested for the sixth time this year, demanding stronger public education. The protest began at the University of Santiago and moved through central Alameda Avenue. Clashes erupted when some protesters deviated from the authorized route, leading to confrontations with police. The students, in conflict with the government since last year, are pushing for a larger education budget for 2013, arguing that the proposed $12 billion is insufficient for free, quality public education.
