J B Priestley: A Soldier’s Cause (2021)

J.B. Priestley, born in 1894, was a renowned playwright and broadcaster. His experiences in WWI, where he served as a private and later an officer, deeply influenced his writings and beliefs. Injured and suffering from shell shock, Priestley returned to England, later becoming involved in social reform and politics. His disdain for class disparity and the officer class is evident in his works. Post-war, he advocated for social change, joining left-wing organizations and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
