Usain Bolt won Best Male Athlete for the third time, while Michael Phelps received an honorary award for his exceptional career. Jessica Ennis was named Best Female Athlete, and Andy Murray was recognized as the revelation of the year. Félix Sánchez won for Best Sporting Comeback. This was the first time the awards were held in Rio, a city preparing for the World Cup and Olympics.
