Southwest Airlines Extends Boeing 737 Max Cancellations To March 2020

In March 2020, the aviation industry was still dealing with the aftermath of the Ethiopian Airlines crash, which led to the global grounding of the Boeing 737 Max. Southwest Airlines, the largest U.S. customer of the 737 Max, had canceled all flights involving the aircraft until February 8th due to uncertainty about its return to service. CEO Gary Kelly mentioned the possibility of ending the airline's single jet policy, which relies solely on Boeing planes. Following Southwest's announcement, American Airlines also extended its 737 Max cancellations until March 5th.
