In Venezuela, gasoline rationing and long lines at stations have become common. The government has relaunched a plan to distribute fuel based on vehicle registration numbers. Recent fuel shipments from Iran and the reactivation of refineries have helped restock stations. In June, Venezuela introduced dollarized gasoline prices, raising high-octane fuel to 50 cents per liter while maintaining a subsidized rate in bolívares. Many Venezuelans endure long lines for subsidized fuel, as filling a tank can be costly in a country with a low minimum wage. While Caracas saw no major incidents, protests occurred in five states due to fuel shortages. Venezuela's oil production has plummeted from over three million barrels per day 12 years ago to less than 400,000 today, according to OPEC.
