The original animatronic model of E.T. from the 1982 Steven Spielberg film was auctioned for over $2.5 million. Before CGI, animatronics required manual operation by a team of 11 people to perform 85 different movements. The E.T. model was highly articulated, with features like glowing fingers and a long neck, making it appear lifelike. Drew Barrymore, a child actress in the film, believed E.T. was real. Other items auctioned included a model of the alien, a motorcycle from the film, and iconic movie memorabilia like the Nimbus 2000 from Harry Potter, a Marilyn Monroe dress, and Iron Man's helmet and glove.
