053 The Last Stand of the Ned Kelly Gang - One Minute History

The Ned Kelly Gang murders Aaron Sherritt for betraying them to the police. They take 62 hostages in a Glenrowan hotel, where they are eventually surrounded by law enforcement. Ned Kelly, wearing metal armor, attacks the police but is eventually shot and captured. The male hostages are released before the police set the hotel on fire, killing the last two outlaws. Ned Kelly is convicted of murder and hanged on November 11, 1880. His armor, marked by 19 bullet holes, is displayed at the State Library of Victoria.
