Collapsed Nigerian building’s permit was for 15 floors, rather than 21 built

A building under construction in Lagos, Nigeria, collapsed, leading to the arrest of its owner. The building had unauthorized additional floors, which may have contributed to the collapse. As of November 3rd, 14 people were confirmed dead, with many still trapped. Rescue efforts were criticized for being slow, and the general manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency was suspended after commenting on the use of inferior materials.
