What's Next for the James Webb Space Telescope

The James Webb Space Telescope, a collaboration between NASA, ESA, and CSA, launched on December 25, 2021. It aims to explore the universe using infrared light, which can penetrate dust and observe distant objects. The telescope's complex design includes a large mirror and a sun shield to keep it cold. After launch, Webb underwent a six-month deployment and cooling process before becoming operational. It will orbit the L2 point, allowing it to block heat from the sun and Earth. Once operational, Webb will provide insights into the universe's earliest days.
