Earth’s newest deep-space probe reaches edge of solar system

The New Horizons spacecraft, launched in 2006, has reached a significant milestone by traveling over 50 astronomical units into deep space, equivalent to 7.5 billion kilometers from Earth. This distance results in a 14-hour communication delay. New Horizons is the fastest man-made machine, surpassing the speed of previous probes like Voyager and Pioneer. It was the first to study Pluto and the Kuiper Belt and captured the first video of a volcano on Jupiter's moon Io.
