Defense Department Identifies Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

Sergeant First Class Elise a Barreto Ortiz was killed in Afghanistan on September 5th by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device. He was serving in Operation Freedom Sentinel and was part of the 82nd Brigade Support Battalion. Ortiz hailed from Morovis, Puerto Rico, and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. His death is under investigation by the Department of Defense. The community, including the paratrooper Family readiness group, is providing support to his loved ones.
