Wildfires jeopardize future forests!

A study led by Colorado State University and the University of Idaho, funded by the National Science Foundation, analyzed data from 1,500 sites across five states to assess the resilience of Rocky Mountain forests. The study found that wildfires since 2000 have led to less forest resilience, with fewer trees regenerating. In one-third of the areas studied, no seedlings were found, indicating potential permanent landscape changes. The team is working with land managers to develop strategies for tree planting and forest management, considering the changing climate and its impact on forest adaptability.
