Chester Graham, a World War II veteran, is celebrated in Saint Mary Gliese for his role in the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. He has returned to Normandy almost every year for the past three decades, forming deep connections with the local community. Despite his age, Graham remains active and cherished by residents, tourists, and fellow soldiers. His ties to the region are so strong that he wishes to have his ashes buried there. Normandy holds bittersweet memories for Graham, as he lost many friends during the war but gained many more in the years since.
