A team of 150 scientists from 30 countries will embark on a groundbreaking three-month expedition around Antarctica in December. The mission aims to gather unprecedented data on climate change effects, covering the entire Southern Ocean and surrounding islands. Departing from Cape Town on December 20 aboard the Russian icebreaker Akademik Tresnikov, the team will return on March 18. The expedition will study Antarctic fauna, plastic pollution, phytoplankton's climate role, and ice samples to understand pre-industrial conditions.
