A violent clash erupted in Alcazuz prison in Brazil between two criminal factions. The police intervened using rubber bullets and tear gas. The violence escalated over the weekend, resulting in 26 deaths. To ease tensions, 220 prisoners were transferred, but this led to further unrest in Natal and other cities. The governor of Rio Grande do Norte requested federal troops to restore order.
