Fold Mountains: Formation

Fold mountains are formed by the movement of Earth's tectonic plates, which collide and cause sedimentary rock to fold and rise over millions of years. This process, known as orogeny, has created famous mountain ranges like the Alps, Rockies, Andes, and Himalayas. These mountains continue to grow, as evidenced by ancient seashells found at their peaks.
