Governor Tate Reeves signed a bill ending Mississippi's prohibition, making alcohol possession legal statewide. Although prohibition was repealed in 1966, the state remained classified as dry, requiring counties to decide on alcohol legality. The new law changes the default to wet, allowing alcohol unless counties vote otherwise. Currently, 29 of 82 counties are dry. The wet state designation will be effective next year.
