Gunman captured after shootout outside US Embassy in Lebanon

A gunman opened fire on the US Embassy outside Beirut, injuring a security guard before being captured by Lebanese soldiers. The gunman was identified as a Syrian national, but it is unclear if he acted alone. The US Embassy had previously relocated to the suburbs following a 1983 suicide bombing that killed 63 people, including embassy staff, CIA officers, and US soldiers.
