Following Beijing's legislation allowing the removal of legislators supporting Hong Kong's independence, Hong Kong's government disqualified pro-democracy legislators. In response, the remaining legislators resigned in protest, leaving pro-Beijing lawmakers with virtually no opposition in the government.
