Queen Mary at Oxford in 1937

Queen Mary visited Oxford to lay the foundation stone for the Bodleian Library extension, escorted by Viscount Halifax. The library, founded by Sir Thomas Bodley, is renowned worldwide. The Bishop of Oxford dedicated the foundation stone, and Lord Nuffield donated half a million dollars for the expansion, which will accommodate 5 million books. An inscription will commemorate Queen Mary's contribution.
