Jefferson Davis was born in Kentucky and educated at Transylvania University and West Point. He served in the Army, married Sarah Knox Taylor, and later became a politician, advocating for state rights. During the Civil War, he led the Confederacy. After the war, he was imprisoned, wrote a book, and died in New Orleans.
