Samoa launched an unprecedented vaccination campaign to combat a measles outbreak, which had paralyzed the nation. The government took a firm stance against anti-vaccine misinformation, arresting activists who opposed the campaign. The epidemic has resulted in over fifty deaths, mostly children, highlighting the urgent need for vaccination. Initially, only 30% of the population was vaccinated, but recent efforts have increased this to 55%. With the support of UNICEF and a state of emergency, the goal is to raise the vaccination rate to over 90%.
