Marco Polo del Nero, president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, stated he cannot be held accountable for the actions of his predecessor, José María Marín, who is imprisoned due to the FIFA scandal. Del Nero emphasized his democratic election and commitment to his role. He was present at the same hotel as Marín during the latter's arrest, along with six other FIFA officials, for allegedly accepting bribes since the 1990s. Del Nero admitted to signing documents with Marín but denied any illegal activity.
