The US economy exceeded expectations by creating 372,000 jobs, surpassing the anticipated 250,000, while maintaining a 3.6% unemployment rate. The first half of the year saw 2.74 million new jobs, more than most full years since 2000. Average hourly wages rose by 10 cents to $32.08, marking a 5.1% increase over the past year. Despite these gains, the Federal Reserve remains concerned about inflation, which is at a 40-year high, and has raised interest rates significantly. The private sector, recovering from the COVID pandemic, contributed 140,000 new jobs.
