Burning batteries will cost Hyundai $900 million

Hyundai is recalling 82,000 electric cars globally to replace faulty LG Chem batteries after reports of fires, costing the company $900 million. This recall, one of the most expensive in history, highlights the financial risks of battery defects. Replacing the batteries is as costly as replacing a gasoline engine. General Motors also recalled 70,000 Chevy Volts for similar issues. Hyundai's new Ionic 5 SUV will not use LG Chem batteries.
