Medical Marvels: Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology, developed by Ian Donald in the 1950s, was inspired by radar and sonar techniques used in World War II and the natural echolocation abilities of animals like bats and dolphins. It uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of the body, most commonly to monitor pregnancies. The technology is safe, widely available, and used for various medical diagnostics, including detecting gallstones and analyzing the heart.
