VOICED : Expresidente colombiano Uribe impugna fallo en su contra

Former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe is contesting a court ruling that mandates an investigation into his alleged manipulation of false witnesses against a leftist legislator. This controversy arises as Uribe, a prominent opposition leader, faces a new scandal ahead of the March 11 elections, where he seeks a new legislative mandate. Although barred from running for president, his party will select a right-wing coalition candidate for the May presidential elections. Uribe's lawyer has filed a nullity appeal with the Supreme Court, which, based on intercepted calls, has ordered an investigation into Uribe for allegedly manipulating witnesses against Senator Iván Cepeda. In 2012, Uribe accused Cepeda of plotting to link him to criminal activities with right-wing groups. The court agreed to process Cepeda and investigate Uribe for similar suspicions.
