What was the Second Barons' War?

Henry III ascended the throne at nine, with barons ruling in his name. As he matured, he relied heavily on foreign advisors, causing tension with English barons. His military campaigns to regain lost French territories failed, leading to financial strain. Despite plans for a crusade, funds were misused for other military ventures, further depleting the treasury. By 1258, dissatisfaction with his rule led to a baronial revolt, resulting in the Provisions of Oxford to limit royal power.
