U.S. Air Force Commander Saves Afghan Family

A young family is safely in Texas thanks to Colonel Thomas Esser, who helped rescue them from Kabul after a suicide bombing. Esser, deployed in March, met Jawid Afzali, an Afghan border police officer, who expressed concern for his family's safety. Esser, motivated by his own family values, orchestrated a rescue operation. Afzali's family was safely brought to the US, where they are now at a processing center in Texas, awaiting their next steps.
