The government lifted a moratorium on the death penalty, in place since 2008, to resume executions for terrorism-related offenses. This decision has garnered public support, as many believe it will deter future terrorist activities. Six executions have already been carried out, and approximately 8,000 individuals remain on death row in Pakistan, a country with a population of 200 million.
