VOICED: Juicios en Turquia por kurdos

In Turkey, 44 individuals, many of whom are journalists, are on trial for alleged connections with Kurdish rebels. This trial is part of a series of hearings where numerous people, including lawyers and politicians, face similar charges. The accused are linked to the Union of Communities of Kurdistan, seen as the urban arm of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party. Some face up to 22.5 years in prison. Robert Koptas, a Turkish-Armenian newspaper editor, argues that resolving the Kurdish conflict requires democratic reforms and disarmament from both sides. The conflict, which began in 1984, has resulted in approximately 45,000 deaths.
