Teff Shortage and Export Ban

Teff, a nutritious grain, is used as a forage crop and is expanding as a human food source beyond Ethiopia to countries like the US and South Africa. Despite being the largest producer, Ethiopia faces challenges in teff production, leading to high prices and an export ban on raw teff. The Ethiopian Agriculture Transformation Agency (ATA) is working to improve production through modern farming techniques and tools. Lifting the export ban could boost Ethiopia's economy and global food security.
