Fidel Castro in Peru

Fidel Castro made a stop in Lima after visiting Chile, where he was informally welcomed by Peruvian officials. He met with President Velasco in a friendly manner and held a press conference discussing diplomatic relations and denying involvement in Peruvian guerrillas. Castro expressed sympathy for Uruguayan tupamaros and departed after a five-hour stay.
