Heather Heyer's Mother Is Suing Her Daughter's Killer

Susan Bro filed a $12 million wrongful death lawsuit against James Alex Fields Jr., who killed her daughter Heather Heyer during a far-right rally in Charlottesville, VA, in 2017. Bro aims to prevent Fields from profiting off his story and to highlight the consequences of hatred and violence. Fields was sentenced to life in prison plus 419 years for first-degree murder and other charges, in addition to a federal life sentence for hate crimes.
