Brazil's economy has shown growth after two years of severe contraction, with a 1% GDP increase in the first quarter of the year. This marks the first positive result after eight quarters of decline. Despite this growth, the economy still experienced a 0.4% decline compared to the same period last year, and a 2.3% contraction over four quarters. The government responded optimistically, with the Finance Minister calling it a historic day, while acknowledging the need for further recovery. In 2015 and 2016, Brazil's GDP fell by 3.8% and 3.6%, respectively.
